As I write, it is a very wintery, wild, Glenshee day, with the snow coming in horizontally. Andrew is outside erecting deer fencing for a new woodland creation scheme and I do not envy working outside today. The aim of the scheme is to create a shelter belt for the deer on the most northernly edge of the farm, increase biodiversity and a new habitat for wildlife.
Much of the winter is spent keeping our animals well fed and watered, with clean straw beds. Maintenance work also takes priority, because once calving and lambing commences there is very little spare time for extra jobs
