As ever David (Andrew’s father), Andrew and Neil have been busy at Glenkilrie over the last few months. The focus for spring work is now on new life in the hills.
At the end of last year all cows were pregnancy scanned and we were pleased with the results. 162 out of 175 are in calf and 90% due to calve within the first 3 weeks.
Jock and Hamish, our breeding red deer stags, were moved from the hinds for a well deserved rest! As yet we do not scan our hinds, so calving will be a wait and watch to see the result.
Lambing is set to begin in the middle of April, with 1100 ewes to lamb. We are going to be extra busy this season with twice as many triplets due compared to last year.
