Dark Kitchen

With lockdowns prevailing our favourite eating places have had to change their business model /strategies.  2020 has seen a rise in local restaurants and caterers delivering food to sustain their business.

The phenomenon “Dark Kitchen” (ghost and cloud kitchens) was a termed used initially to explain where restaurant food is cooked but no restaurant physically existed.  Compared to a usual takeaway format, orders were placed online, without the option for the public to enter the premises.

Having a restaurant meal at home, especially for those who have to self-isolate, shield or social distance, has been a welcome break from the kitchen.  We are proud to supply a local family run hotel, known as The Kirky Bar and Restaurant (The Kirkmichael Hotel). Gary Norwood and his team now provide the community with a regular takeaway service of their quality meals.  Another prime example of a business which has had to change tact to survive these uncertain times.
