Marks & Spencer Select Farm

  • Post category:On the Farm

Glenkilrie is a Marks and Spencer select farm. Although we sell our own lamb through Glenkilrie Larder, the numbers are small in comparison to what the farm annually produces. We have 1100 breeding ewes. Annually finishing circa 1250 lambs and keep up to 300 lambs for replacements. The bulk of the farm lamb sales, go through Scotbeef, destined for Marks and Spencer.

In 2017 Andrew was announced as a regional winner, for the young producer category, at the Marks and Spencer’s awards. The annual presentation took place at the Royal Highland Show.

Marks and Spencer take great interest and pride in the produce they choose to sell. They are a forward thinking and proactive supermarket to work with. We have just completed a KTIF project with M&S, studying what produces good eating lamb, with information on genetics and finishing systems gathered, as well as taste and tenderness recording. They aim, to further improve our knowledge on what produces quality lamb the consumer would want to buy and we at Glenkilrie are proud to be one of their select farms.
